Barn Conversion
This impressive Grade II listed building, dated 1704 on its north gable required a substantial glass entrance which would eventually lead out to a beautifully landscaped garden and water feature.
A very complex project indeed, it required the longest supporting triple laminate fins and double glazed roof units available in the UK at almost 6 metres.
If that weren’t challenging enough, the irregular and unique geometry of this historic building made both the design and installation process extremely complicated, especially that of the huge roof panels which had to be installed with zero disturbance to the fabric of the building. Needless to say, the installation was a tense operation, however, thanks for meticulous planning and the diligence of our designers and engineers, as well as the skill and experience of our installation team the construction was completed without a hitch and the results are truly spectacular.

“Rob and his team at Artisan Glass worked closely with ourselves and our architect to create an amazing frameless glass extension to our 17th Century listed barn conversion. The survey and design work involved was immense as there is not a single straight line or right angle in the building. The installation was equally challenging: the largest piece of double-glazed glass was over 6 Metres long a half a tonne in weight. There is no doubt that they created something truly unique for us, and the “wow” reaction from everyone who sees it in the flesh is the real testament to their achievement. Thanks!”
